In the Groß Schwansee district of the Kalkhorst municipality in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is Schloss Groß Schwansee. Originally built in the Baroque style and later re-designed in the Neoclassical style, it now houses a hotel.

History+

The construction of the eleven-axis, late Baroque main building was completed in 1745 by Baron Wilhelm Ludwig Hartwig von Both. In 1780, the property passed into the possession of the Counts of Brockdorff, before being acquired in 1850 by the Hamburg merchant Johann Heinrich Schröder. Until the end of World War II in 1945, the estate remained in the possession of this family, who were later elevated to baronial status.
