Grube Castle

The von Quitzow family, residing in Grube since 1376, had the castle built between 1740 and 1742, with remnants of a previous structure preserved in the cellar. A 13th-century fieldstone well and ceramic finds suggest an earlier supra-regional significance of the noble seat. Around 1817, the von Quitzow family left the area, and the village became the owner of the estate before it passed into the possession of the Polzin family. In 1889, Busso Gans Edler Herr zu Putlitz acquired the estate and initiated Gründerzeit-era renovations, including changes to the roof pitch and internal layout. From 1919 to 1945, Grube Castle was owned by the Kamlah family, who carried out alterations in the 1920s, such as lowering the eastern cellar areas.
