Around 1074, the place is mentioned for the first time with the high-ranking nobleman Adalbert von Kilb. In the 12th century, the dominion came to Rudolf von Perg through marriage. Friedrich von Perg was inherited by the Babenberg Duke Leopold V in 1191.
