Gützkow Castle, a Baroque manor house, is located in the Gützkow district of the municipality of Röckwitz in the Mecklenburg Lake District. It consists of the main building and two flanking cavalier houses, which enclose a courtyard of honor.

History+

The Maltzahn family owned the Gützkow estate since 1428, before it was pledged to the Duke of Mecklenburg in 1579. In 1617, the Preen family took over the estate as a pledge, and in 1692 it was sold to Lorenz von Blücher. Between 1770 and 1777, Adam von Blücher had the current manor house built in Baroque style, after he was awarded the estate following a legal dispute. The coat of arms of the Blücher family can still be seen above the portal today. After several changes of ownership, including Count Moltke and Wilhelmine von Blücher, the Maltzahn family inherited the estate again in 1862.
