The former manor and later Gunsleben Castle is located in the Saxony-Anhalt municipality of Am Großen Bruch, Oschersleben district, between Hamersleben and Aderstedt, near the Lower Saxony border. Gunsleben was first mentioned in 1112 as a dependency of Hamersleben Monastery. From 1453 until its forced expropriation by the communists in 1945, it was owned by the von der Asseburg family.
The baroque manor house from 1754 and presumably also the inspector's house built shortly thereafter in 1768 were built by Christoph Werner von der Asseburg. The Gründerzeit mansion from 1891 was built by Count Maximilian Asche von der Asseburg and features two corner towers and an artfully designed wooden veranda. The castle includes a small, 160-year-old park.
The castle is privately owned and is currently being renovated.
