Hackledt Castle

The first documented mention of the Hackledt lineage dates back to 1377, with the family continuously owning the castle until the late 18th century. The village of Hackledt itself first appears in documents in 1396. In 1664, under Johann Georg von Hackledt, the complex underwent renovation and enlargement. The castle moat was filled in, an extension was built, and the castle was modernized in the Baroque style. A chapel, dedicated to Saint James and Saint Anne, was also added during this period. The castle's current appearance, as seen in historical copper engravings, largely dates from this era. In 1779, the Innviertel region, and thus Hackledt Castle, fell to the Habsburgs.
