Hafenpreppach Castle is a Baroque castle situated on a low hill above the district of Hafenpreppach in the Haßberge region. The complex has a two-winged design and a history, ranging from noble owners to its use as a children's home.

History+

As early as the 16th century, Hafenpreppach was the seat of a line of the Stein von Altenstein family, who held the estate as a fief from the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. From 1664, the estate passed into the possession of the Barons von Greiffenclau, although a part of the lordship was under the feudal sovereignty of Saxe-Römhild. The Greiffenclau family retained the castle until 1789, after which it changed owners several times.
