In the Bavarian district of Dachau stands Haimhausen Castle. The complex, situated at approximately 454 meters above sea level, has been repeatedly redesigned and expanded and today houses a late Baroque castle chapel.

History+

The first documented mention of the property as a “castrum” dates back to 1281. Following a fire during the Thirty Years' War, reconstruction took place in 1660. A transformation of the castle occurred between 1743 and 1749 under Imperial Count Karl Ferdinand Maria von und zu Haimhausen by the architect François de Cuvilliés the Elder. From this period dates the Salvator Mundi castle chapel, whose stucco work and altars are by Egid Verhelst and his sons, and the ceiling painting by Johann Georg Bergmüller from 1750.
