The New Hainewalde Castle, once a manor, stands in the landscape of Saxony.

History+

The construction of Hainewalde Castle took place between 1749 and 1755 under Samuel Friedrich von Kanitz. The inauguration of the new building occurred on June 17, 1755. As early as 1781, the castle was equipped with a lightning rod. Redesigns in 1882/83 led to the removal of the original Baroque elements. In 1927, Moritz Joachim Ernst von Kyaw sold the property to the municipality of Großschönau. The castle was used between 1933 and 1945 as a protective custody camp and later as a military training camp.
