Hainhofen Castle

The castle was built in the 13th century as a moated castle. In 1267, the castle was first mentioned in a document. In 1582, Anton Fugger acquired the castle, which he rebuilt in the Renaissance style. In 1601, ownership changed to Wolfgang Paller. From 1721 to 1970, the castle was owned by the von Rehlingen family. In 1970, the castle was sold to a Mr. Gutenberg, who rented it to the Order of the Knights Templar and a sect. Today, the castle is in private ownership.

The castle is a four-winged complex with a courtyard. The main building has three floors and a hipped roof. The facades are plastered and structured by corner quoins and window frames. The castle chapel, built in 1601, is located in the north wing. It contains a valuable altar from the 18th century.

The Castle Park

The castle park was laid out in the 18th century as a baroque garden. In the 19th century, it was transformed into an English landscape garden. Today, the park is open to the public and offers a variety of walking paths and recreational opportunities.

Current Use

The castle is currently privately owned and is not accessible to the public. However, the castle park can be visited during opening hours. The castle is occasionally used for private events and film shoots.
