In the municipality of Halbturn in the Austrian Burgenland is Schloss Halbturn, a Baroque castle. Originally conceived as a hunting lodge, it developed into a summer residence and is now a center for cultural events.

History+

The construction of the castle took place between 1701 and 1711 under the direction of Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt, commissioned by Emperor Charles VI. It initially served as a hunting lodge. Later, during the reign of Empress Maria Theresia, the estate was redesigned by court architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt and became the summer residence for Albert of Saxony-Teschen and Archduchess Marie Christine, who served as governors in Hungary.
