Construction and Early Years

Hardheim Castle is a building constructed around 1561 in the center of Hardheim. The castle was initially built as a moated castle by Urban Khaltschmid von Lindau on behalf of Junker Wolf von Hardheim and his wife Margareta von Berlichingen, and only later converted into a castle. The moat around the castle is still preserved today and serves as a garden area.

Later Use

In 1858, Hardheim acquired the building from the Grand Duchy of Baden. Subsequently, it was used as a school and for ecclesiastical purposes, before the municipal administration moved its seat into the castle in 1929.
