Hasenwinkel Castle

The construction of the manor house began in 1908 and was completed in 1912, originally for the German-Russian diplomat Schmitz. In 1927, the Girardet family acquired the property. Even after its sale to Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in 1942, the Girardet family retained residential rights. With the advance of the Soviet army, the family fled in April 1945. Shortly thereafter, in May 1945, the manor house served as the headquarters of the Soviet military staff and later as a refugee camp. After a renovation in 1948, it housed the State Administration School, from 1952 the Technical College for Political Science, and from 1970 to 1990 the Academy for Socialist Economic Management. After reunification, it became a training and further education center.
