The Haunscher Hof in Bad Salzungen, Thuringia, is a historic castle. As one of the oldest structures in the city center, it combines medieval origins with later Renaissance elements and now serves as a cultural meeting point.

History+

The origins of the Haunscher Hof date back to around 1450, making it one of the oldest buildings in Bad Salzungen's inner city. In 1487, Count Friedrich von Henneberg transferred the estate to the von Haun family, from which its current name is derived. A renovation in the Renaissance style took place in 1624. In the early 19th century, specifically 1810, the castle passed into private ownership and was temporarily used as a spa guesthouse. After restoration starting in 1970, it housed the city and district library from 1972.
