Haunsperg Castle

The first documented mention of the castle occurred around the year 1365, when it was owned by Ekhart Prennär von Haus. In the same year, the property changed hands. In 1388, Michael von Haunsperg acquired the estate, whose family eventually gave the castle its name. Over the following centuries, there were numerous changes of ownership until the entire estate was acquired in 1899 by Adolf Mautner Ritter von Markhof and his sister Marie. Marie married Rudolf von Thun und Hohenstein in 1911, who was the district governor of the Hallein administrative authority from 1896 to 1900.
