Heeren Castle, an impressive manor house, is located in Heeren-Werve, a district of Kamen. It is an outstanding example of an early Baroque moated castle, characterized by its architectural coherence and good state of preservation.

History+

The estate was built at the beginning of the 17th century, specifically in 1606, by the von Bodelschwingh / von der Recke-Heeren family. Originally conceived as an early Baroque moated castle, it featured a square tower at its southeast corner. In 1857, the castle was extended with an addition featuring a polygonal bay tower on the east side. The von Plettenberg-Heeren family has owned the property since at least 1767.
