Heiligenberg Castle

The agriculturally used Heiligenberg came into the possession of August Konrad Hofmann in 1811, who had a manor built there between 1814 and 1816. In 1827, Hereditary Grand Duchess Wilhelmine of Hesse and by Rhine acquired the estate and used it as a summer residence. From 1831, she had the estate expanded into a castle by Georg Moller. Later, Prince Alexander of Hesse and by Rhine and his wife Julia of Battenberg inhabited the castle and expanded it between 1862 and 1867 according to plans by Georg Moller.
