History+

The first documented mention of a castle at this location dates to 1363. In 1425, Johann van Eyckelinckhoyven, known as de Wrede, was named as the owner. The property changed hands in 1573 to Wilhelm von Steinrod and remained with this family until 1663, before passing to Adolf Schenck von Niddegen. After his death in 1666, Johann Joseph Reichsritter von Brück acquired the estate in 1748 and had the current manor house built between 1758 and 1760. In the 19th century, the castle came into the possession of the Barons von Fürstenberg. From 1928, the Wipperfürth district used the property for emergency works.
