Amidst the picturesque landscape of Thuringia stands Hellingen Castle, a historic structure that once served as a prestigious residence. Originally conceived as a moated castle, it was transformed into a palace over the centuries and bears witness to a eventful past.

History+

The earliest known Lords of Hellingen, a wealthy noble family, appeared as early as 1151 and served the Counts of Henneberg. Their original residence, however, is not documented. Later, the Lords of Schott took over the estate's fortunes. It was they who, in 1515, had a four-winged moated castle with four towers built in the western part of the village.
