Hembsen Castle

Hembsen is first mentioned in the 9th century as Hemmeteshus in the Corvey donation records as being in the possession of the Bishops of Paderborn. Until the end of the 15th century, the village and the estate were owned by the von Hamedissen family. During the Seven Years' War (1756-63), the village was devastated. In 1843, today's castle was built on the walls of a previous building.
