Heppenheim Castle
Heppenheim Castle stands in the Hessian town of Heppenheim, not far from the historic market square. This structure, which today houses a school, conceals beneath its foundations traces of an older history, dating back to Frankish times.
History+
Heppenheim Castle was built around 1700, with parts constructed by the noble family of Rodenstein. Shortly after its completion, the estate passed into the possession of Baron von und zu der Hess, who served as Burgrave of Starkenburg at the time and had the castle expanded. Around 1825, the city of Heppenheim acquired the building and converted it into a schoolhouse.
