Herringhausen Castle

The origins of the Herringhausen manor date back to the 16th century, when Rembert von Schorlemer was recorded as the first owner. Between 1720 and 1730, under Leopold Anton Wilhelm von Schorlemer, it was converted into the Baroque castle complex visible today. The designs for this came from Justus Wehmer of Hildesheim. Construction management was initially handled by Bartholomäus Rabaliatti and from 1722 by Valentin Springer. After the builder's death, his son Joseph Clemens von Schorlemer continued the work. In the 19th century, Burghard von Schorlemer-Alst was a resident of the castle.
