In Bad Hindelang in Bavaria's Oberallgäu region is Hindelang Castle, once a princely bishop's hunting lodge. Today, this edifice serves as the town hall and houses a former chapel with early Baroque stucco work.

History+

The construction of Hindelang Castle took place in 1660 under the patronage of Sigismund Franz, Prince-Bishop of Augsburg and Archduke of Tyrol. Until 1805, the estate served as the summer residence for the Prince-Bishops of Augsburg. Following secularization, the castle became state property. It was subsequently used privately for several years as an inn, "zum Hasen," and later as a schoolhouse, before finally being converted into its current function as the market town's town hall.
