In Baden-Württemberg, Hirrlingen Castle stands as one of the rare rural Renaissance castles in the region that has been almost completely preserved in its original form. Its architecture reflects the Renaissance style and is an example of 16th-century building art.

History+

Hirrlingen Castle was built between 1557 and 1558 on behalf of Baron Georg VII von Ow, taking Bühler Castle as its model. The three-story building with a rectangular floor plan and a high gabled roof features two round towers on the north side, whose loopholes on the ground floor indicate its former defensive character. The moats that originally surrounded the entire area have largely disappeared today; only a castle pond remains towards the village.
