In Hirschberg in the Saale-Orla district of Thuringia, Hirschberg Castle, a Baroque building, stands on a rocky outcrop. Its history dates back to the 13th century.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to 1296 when it was recorded as an imperial fief. In 1397, its status changed, becoming a Bohemian fief, before transitioning to a Reussian fief in 1652. Heinrich X Reuß zu Lobenstein acquired the castle in 1664. The current Baroque structure was built from 1678 under his son, Count Heinrich VIII Reuß zu Hirschberg, who resided here until his death in 1711.
