Hochdorf Castle, an impressive Baroque country estate, is located in the Hochdorf district of the municipality of Eberdingen in the Ludwigsburg district. It is an outstanding example of the architecture of its time and forms a harmonious ensemble together with the castle church and a former sheepfold.

History+

The origins of Hochdorf Castle date back to the early 18th century. In 1709, Philipp Heinrich von Tessin acquired the property in Hochdorf from the Lords of Münchingen. Just one year later, in 1710, he had a magnificent country castle built on the southern edge of the village. This also included an expansive castle garden, which covered an area of more than 1.5 hectares. Originally, the complex comprised not only the castle but also various economic and administrative buildings, which were located in its immediate vicinity.
