Hochhaus Castle

As can be seen in Georg Matthäus Vischer's engraving from 1674, Vorchdorf Castle was a three-story building covered by a hip roof. Below the gable of the castle, there was already a battlement-like pointed arch frieze. The castle was surrounded by a wall with a corner tower and onion dome; the farmstead was also integrated into this.

Compared to earlier times, the roofing has changed significantly, with the gable wall with the round arch frieze (machicolation crown) being raised and provided with a cross-gabled roof. Apart from that, the castle building is essentially still the original construction of the Vischpekch family. The entrance portal dates from the Rococo period in the mid-18th century. However, the farmstead and the surrounding wall have now disappeared, having been demolished in 1911 along with the ground-floor servant's wing. The local museum is housed in the still existing wall tower ("Fischerturm").

The Neptune fountain in front of the castle comes from Schlierbach Abbey. In 1962, the building underwent fundamental renovation. A restaurant has been operated in it for 100 years. The first tenants were Franz and Theresia Hörach (1891), Josef and Anna Hörtenhuber (1901–1910), Franz and Anna Eder, Karl Dickinger (1927), Franz and Maria Ziegelböck (1960); the current restaurateurs are Rudolf and Pauline Hillinger.
