Hof Castle

The castle was built in 1200 by the Lords of Hof. In 1418, ownership transferred to the Torer zu Eurasburg. In 1504, the castle and its property were conquered by Duke Albrecht in the Bavarian War. Until 1573, the castle was owned by Oswald von Egk. In 1622, it came into the possession of the Prince-Bishopric of Freising, which converted the castle into a summer residence for the Prince-Bishops of Freising. In 1632, the castle was destroyed by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt between 1698-1718. In 1803, the west wing was demolished. Further extensions and alterations took place in the 19th century.
