Hohenerxleben Castle

Schloss Hohenerxleben+
Geschichte+
Schloss Hohenerxleben was first mentioned in a document in 1205. The castle was owned by the Freckleben and Hoym families. Subsequently, it was owned by the Krosigk family for 425 years. This family had the church and large parts of the village built. In 1807, the first renovation of the castle took place. At the end of the 19th century, another renovation was carried out by architect Ferdinand Schorbach. In 1945, the owners were expropriated and expelled by the communists. After 1945, the castle was used as a training center, among others for the Technical University of Magdeburg. Today, Schloss Hohenerxleben is owned by the Schloss Theatrum Herberge Hohenerxleben Foundation.
