Hohenfels Castle, also known as Neu-Hohenfels, is a historic complex built as a medieval spur castle, now serving as a boarding school. It is situated on a hill in the municipality of Hohenfels in the Konstanz district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

History+

The origins of Hohenfels Castle date back to the 12th century, when the Lords of Hohenfels, a collateral line of the Alt-Hohenfels family, settled here. The complex was first documented in 1292 under the name "Neuhohenfels". After the extinction of the Neuhohenfels line in 1352, the property passed through marriage to the Lords of Jungingen. In the early 15th century, they largely succeeded in uniting the Hohenfels lordships. Following a period of decline and a renewed division in 1441, Anna von Jungingen, the sister of the last male heir, sold the lordship of Neuhohenfels to the Teutonic Order in 1506.
