History+
The origins of the current palace grounds date back to the 13th to 15th centuries, when the area was likely inhabited by a Schulze family. At the end of the 15th century, the noble family von Röbel built a manor farm there. In 1736, the merchant Adam Ebersbach acquired the property. A phase began in 1817 with its purchase by State Councillor Friedrich Scharnweber, a Prussian reformer. At the end of the 19th century, in 1890, the estate was sold to a land development company and parceled out. In 1893, the merchant Gerhard Puchmüller took ownership of the palace, undertaking renovations and decorating the vestibule. From 1910 to 1929, the inventor Paul Schmidt was the last private owner. From 1930, the palace belonged to the city of Berlin and initially served as a social institution, later as a maternity clinic from 1945 to 1989.
