Hohenthann Castle

The first documented mention of Hohenthann dates back to 1125, with the local noble family of Hohenthann residing there until 1407. Later, the Hofmark and the castle passed to the Counts of Deyring, who also held jurisdiction from the mid-17th century until 1818. In 1704, the original castle complex was destroyed by fire during the War of the Spanish Succession. In the second half of the 18th century, it was rebuilt in the Rococo style. In 1818, Martin von Melzl acquired the Hofmark.
