Hermann-Lietz-School

Hohenwehrda Castle stands on a hill near Wehrda in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district of Hesse. The building, which was constructed around the turn of the 20th century, now serves as an educational institution.

History+

The construction of Hohenwehrda Castle took place around 1900/1901 under the aegis of Baron Wilhelm von Kleydorff. After his death, his widow Lilli, née Benckiser, sold the estate to the Hermann Lietz School. In 1941, a new school was founded here, serving as an alternative quarter for Bieberstein Castle, which had been confiscated by the National Socialists. This institution later developed into a boarding school that accommodates both boys and girls.
