Holckenhavn Castle
On the east coast of the island of Funen in Denmark stands Holckenhavn Castle, a Renaissance castle.
History+
The origins of the estate, then known as Kogsbølle, date back to the 14th century when it was owned by Anders Jacobsen Ulfeldt. For over 200 years, the castle remained within this family. The current Renaissance castle was built in a construction phase from the late 16th to the early 17th century, shaped by three successive owners. After being known as Ulfeldtsholm and Ellensborg for a time, it received its current name Holckenhavn in 1672 when Eiler Holck acquired the estate. It has remained continuously in his family's possession ever since.
Location+
Holckenhavn Castle is located south of Nyborg, in the municipality of Nyborg in the Syddanmark (Southern Denmark) region, Denmark.
