Holsthum Castle

Holsthum Castle, also known as Laeis Manor, is a manor house in the municipality of Holsthum in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate. It is protected as a cultural monument and is listed in the list of cultural monuments in Holsthum.

The current manor house, an eight-axis plastered building with a slate-covered mansard roof and a half-hipped roof, was built in 1789 by the official (estate manager) Johann Dominik Laeis and his son Matthias Dominik Laeis with the permission of Baroness Marie Therese von Schmidtburg, née von Eltz-Rodendorf. In the 15th century, the von Nickenich family owned Holsthum, and from 1496, the Burscheid line of the Lords of Metternich. From 1753, the Barons Schenk von Schmidtburg were the owners of the Holsthum estate.

The house underwent a careful exterior renovation in 2010.
