Holte Castle

Schloss Holte is a 17th-century hunting lodge in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, Ostwestfalen, in the district of Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia.

As early as the 14th century, a fortified castle, Haus Holte, was built in the east of the Holter Forest. In 1556, it was completely destroyed by Bernhard VIII zur Lippe. Count Johann III and Countess Sabina Katharina von Rietberg und Ostfriesland had the present moated castle built as a hunting lodge on these foundations between 1608 and 1616. However, the final completion only took place in 1664. In the 19th century, some alterations were added.

The Renaissance-style castle is now privately owned and not publicly accessible. The same applies to the surrounding park, which covers an area of one hectare.
