Holtfeld Castle

The first documented mention of Holtfeld Castle dates back to 1380 in a feudal register from Osnabrück. At that time, the Lords of Todrank, who resided at Ravensberg Castle, were listed as owners. After the extinction of this lineage in 1497, the castle passed by inheritance to the Imperial Barons von Wendt, who inhabited it until 1863. During this period, specifically from 1599 to 1602, the current manor house was built in the Renaissance style. The inner gatehouse was constructed in 1632, followed by the outer gatehouse in 1705. In the early 18th century, the entire complex underwent a redesign. In 1863, the castle passed to the Counts of Marchant d'Ansembourg, who later sold it to the Counts of Galen.
