In Lower Austria, Horn Castle was built in the 18th century on the foundations of an older castle. It embodies the history of a former center of Protestant nobility.

History+

The origins of the castle date back to 1539, when it served as the castle of the Puchheim family. This manor became a focal point for the Protestant nobility in Lower Austria. In 1608, the castle was the site where the Protestant estates united to form the so-called Horner Bund. After 1620, during the Counter-Reformation, the lordship passed to the Catholic Counts of Kurz, who held it until 1848.
