Hülhoven Castle (Oberbruch)

The first known mention of Haus Hülhoven dates to around 1610, when it was owned by Johan von Hülhoven. In 1651, the property passed to Gisbert von Hülhoven, who served as an imperial bailiff and commander of Sittard. He and his brother also shared ownership of the Loherhof near Uetterath with Johan Speel. In 1654, Johan Ludwig van Olmissen, whose mother was Anna von Hülhoven, became the feudal lord and owner of the house. Hülhoven Castle acquired its current appearance around 1700, when it was rebuilt by Baron Mulart von Hülhoven. In the 19th century, District Administrator and Baron Bernhard Paul Friedrich Hugo von Scheibler acquired the castle, and his descendants continue to reside there to this day.
