Hünigen Castle (Konolfingen)

Hotel

A Villa Hünigen as a settlement is mentioned in the 12th century in a document by Pope Eugene III. In 1501, the estate was acquired by Hans Rudolf von Scharnachtal. His grandson Niklaus had the current castle building constructed in the middle of the 16th century, which passed to the Bernese patrician family von May in 1588. It remained in their possession until 1922, when it was acquired by the Evangelical Society of the Canton of Bern.

The Parkhotel Schloss Hünigen is today a high-class seminar, banquet, and holiday hotel and was sold at the end of 2010 to Lark Hill AG, based in Wilen TG. The Evangelical Community Work, as the seller, does not consider hotel management its core business.
