Hünigen Castle, a historic edifice, is situated in the municipality of Konolfingen in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. It is used as an upscale hotel.

History+

The origins of Hünigen date back to the 12th century, when a settlement named Villa Hünigen was mentioned in a papal document. In 1501, Hans Rudolf von Scharnachtal acquired the dominion. His grandson, Niklaus, had the current castle building constructed in the mid-16th century. In 1588, the estate passed into the possession of the Bernese patrician family von May, who owned it until 1922.
