Hünnefeld Castle

The first mention of Hünnefeld dates back to 1146. In the 13th century, a moated castle was built on this site, which by the 14th century already consisted of an upper and lower castle. On March 17, 1447, it came into the possession of the von dem Bussche family. This family already owned the nearby Ippenburg Castle at that time. In 1598, an inheritance division led to the creation of the von dem Bussche-Ippenburg and von dem Bussche-Hünnefeld lines. The current manor house was built between 1600 and 1614. The three-winged main building of the complex was constructed from 1610 to 1613 under Gerhard Clamor v. dem Bussche and his wife Hedwig v. Münchhausen, using simple early Baroque forms instead of Weser Renaissance decor. The farmyard with its dovecote from 1701 complements the complex.
