In Hungen, Hesse, stands Hungen Castle, a structure with a long history. Originally a fortified castle, it evolved into a palace and now serves as a venue for cultural events and residential living.

History+

The origins of the castle date back to 1383, when a fortified complex belonging to the Falkenstein family was documented at this site. This fortification was likely built after Hungen was granted town rights in 1361. With the extinction of the Falkenstein family in 1418, the castle passed into the possession of the Counts of Solms. Around 1455, Bernhard II of Solms-Braunfels had a larger castle built, presumably incorporating parts of the older structure. His successor, Bernhard III, expanded the complex between 1487 and 1492.
