Imbshausen Castle

The origins of Imbshausen date back to the 9th century, when Count Immad transferred his possessions to Corvey Abbey. Around 1561, the estate came into the possession of Sievert von Steinberg. His successor, Adrian von Steinberg, had a new castle, a church, and a windmill built. Another church was built between 1722 and 1726 under Friedrich von Steinberg, who also founded a church library. From 1777, the estate passed from the Steinbergs to the Barons von Kipe and later, through marriage, to the von Stralenheim family. The current castle building was constructed from 1862 to 1864 according to designs by Julius Rasch on the foundations of the previous building.
