Inching Castle, a Baroque castle in Upper Bavaria, is situated on the Altmühl river in the municipality of Inching, Eichstätt district. It was originally conceived as a summer residence for Eichstätt canons and auxiliary bishops.

History+

The castle's origins date back to the 11th or 12th century, with some remnants still preserved in the ground floor of the street-facing section. The castle acquired its present Baroque form between 1710 and 1720 through the Eichstätt court architects Jakob Engel and Gabriel de Gabrieli. Jakob Engel added a square building with a corner oriel facing the Altmühl around 1710. Gabriel de Gabrieli shaped its appearance by replacing much of the attic floor with a Baroque hall featuring an oriel and side cabinets.
