Interlaken Castle is located in the municipality of Interlaken in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It is a former Augustinian monastery that now serves as an administrative center.

History+

The origins of the current castle date back to 1133, when an Augustinian monastery was first documented on this site. In the course of the Reformation, the monastery was dissolved in 1525, and its property fell to the canton of Bern. In 1748, the current castle was built on the foundations of the former monastery, serving thereafter as the seat of the Bernese bailiff. Since 2009, the castle has been undergoing extensive renovation, a project with a total volume of 4.5 million Swiss francs.
