Irnsing Castle is a historical structure located in Irnsing, a district of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district of Bavaria. It shapes the village's skyline.

History+

The first documented mention of Irnsing dates back to the year 900. In 1012, Emperor Henry II gifted the locality to the newly founded Diocese of Bamberg. Irnsing served as the seat of a noble house and an independent Hofmark, which originally included a strongly fortified castle. The Lords of Irnsing are traceable from 1109 to 1470. Later, the property passed to the Prantl family. Around 1690, the estate came into the possession of Marquard Ludwig Ferdinand Freiherr von Nothaft through marriage, followed by the Cammerloher von Weiching.
