Jestetten Castle

The origins of Jestetten Castle date back a long way, with the nobles of Jestetten being mentioned as residents as early as 1135. Later, the property passed into the possession of the Schaffhausen patrician family von Jünteler. In 1488, they sold the castle to Count Alwig X. von Sulz. For the Counts of Sulz, it became an important second residence alongside Tiengen Castle, especially after the destruction of Balm Castle in 1449. From here, they could control their possessions in the upper Klettgau and Rafzerfeld. From 1687, the castle became part of the Schwarzenberg dominion.
