In the municipality of Jettenbach in the district of Mühldorf am Inn, Upper Bavaria, stands Jettenbach Castle. Originally built as a wooden fortress above the Inn River, it evolved into a stone structure that, despite a fire, has preserved its significance.

History+

The first mention of Jettenbach occurred in the 12th century, when Hettich von Itenbach had a wooden fortification erected at this location. Through the marriage of Ida von Itenbach to Wiepot von Toerring, the Toerring-Jettenbach family branch emerged. The wooden structure was replaced by a stone building in 1511 and expanded in 1622 with economic outbuildings and a brewery. Further wings were added by the end of the 17th century, and the castle park was laid out.
