Jettenbach Castle

Jettenbach Castle is located in Jettenbach, Upper Bavaria, in the district of Mühldorf am Inn. Jettenbach is first mentioned in the mid-12th century, when Hettich von Itenbach had a presumably wooden fortress built here above the Inn river. The marriage of Ida von Itenbach to Wiepot von Toerring established the Toerring-Jettenbach branch.

The wooden fortress was replaced by a stone building in 1511 and expanded in 1622 with economic outbuildings and a brewery. Further wings were added by the end of the 17th century. The castle park was also laid out during this time. In 1726, Ignaz von Törring had a new brewery built and a separate water pipeline laid to the castle and the brewery. In the 18th century, the entire castle was baroqueized.

In 1855, Jettenbach Castle burned down to its outer walls and was rebuilt in a simpler manner to its current appearance in the following two years.

Castle Chapel

The castle chapel originally dates back to 1356. In 1734, St. Vitus was baroqueized. A final expansion took place in 1920; between 1989 and 1996, the chapel was renovated.
