Schloss Johannstorf, a baroque manor house, is located in the municipality of Dassow-Johannstorf in the Nordwestmecklenburg district. Once the center of an estate, this building is today dilapidated.

History+

The origins of the Johannstorf estate date back to the 16th century, when it was owned by the Buchwald family. Through marriage, the property later passed to the Schack von Buchwald family. Construction of the current castle began in 1743 under Schack von Buchwald, a Gottorfian councilor and Lübeck cathedral dean. It replaced a medieval moated castle and was built according to plans by Rudolph Matthias Dallin. In 1782, the property changed hands to the Eckermann family, who managed it until 1945.
