Kaimberg Castle

The origins of the estate lie in a knight's manor, considered the core of the Kaimberg settlement, encompassing large parts of the district. In 1328, the villages of Pforten, Collis, and Kaimberg fell to the Vogt of Gera. While Pforten was initially the main locality, this role shifted to Kaimberg around 1500, granting the Lords of Kaimberg jurisdiction over the surrounding villages until the mid-19th century. The original knight's seat was later demolished by a commercial councilor Schmidt from Altenburg and replaced with a new building. As early as the 16th century, the estate featured a brewery, viticulture, and a brickworks.
